As I began gardening a couple years ago, someone told me to cut the flowers off of my chive plant or it would spread all over.
What???
Have you seen the capivating purple puffballs that emerge from that plain green plant?
They take you to the forest of truffula trees in Dr Seuss,
they are the first color in my garden,
they are an amazing contrast to the spiky hollow foliage below,
they are a light airy ball that makes you want to reach out and feel the softness of it,
they take me back to my youth where we would find the tiny clover blooms and suck out the sweetness.
Who would cut those off?
Not me.
